  Dave Rose

"Raleigh is without question one of the most talented cities in the country. It's creative and it's diverse, which is awesome for a music community."

Although you may not know Dave Rose by name, if you've seen live music in Raleigh, N.C., chances are that you've seen and heard his handiwork. His company, Deep South Entertainment, got its start in 1995 as a record label and eventually segued to managing bands. After experiencing festivals and outdoor events around the country with his artists, Dave saw an opportunity to make his own memorable events in Raleigh, based on everything he learned on the road.

From programming the N.C. State Fair's live music, Oak City 7, Pickin' in the Plaza and Y'All at Dix Park to advising on many more local events, his production company has been a part of all of it. He also runs Deep South The Bar, a bustling live music venue in downtown Raleigh, and his leadership led to the development of themostnc.com, a comprehensive calendar showcasing Raleigh's live music scene.

Dave appreciates the diversity of artists that a strong music scene can bring to visitors and locals alike. With 11 universities and thriving tech and pharmaceutical industries, Raleigh, N.C., attracts creative minds. Settings like Deep South The Bar, and any of the other 80+ music venues in the area, give live music a place to shine seven nights a week.

A visit to Dave's Deep South The Bar is essential during your Raleigh road trip. The homegrown, authentic vibe sets the atmosphere at the venue, with red walls covered in classic, handwritten lyrics and concert posters, echoing Dave's love of music. And the welcoming, friendly environment makes you feel like you're hanging at a friend's place.

The venue presents music genres all across the board with up-and-coming bands, both local and touring. Also offering up good variety is the bar, serving local craft beer, wine and a delicious list of mixed drinks, including The Cherry Bounce, the drink that helped Raleigh become N.C.'s state capital and the first cocktail ever served in Raleigh. Take your drink outside on the patio for some fresh air and a fantastic view of the Raleigh Convention Center's Cree Shimmer Wall and some of downtown Raleigh's skyline. Want to jam on stage? Hit the open mic nights on Tuesdays to share your songs or your chops. (Pro tip: Hit a concert with some of the hottest artists on tour at the adjacent Red Hat Amphitheater then check out Deep South The Bar for a full night of music all around one downtown block!)
