Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC — May 22, 2017 — The Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon Series today announced that registration for the 2018 Rock ‘n' Roll Raleigh Half Marathon and 5k will open on Wednesday, May 24. The marathon distance will not return in 2018 with event organizers focusing solely on the half marathon and 5K races

"We are thrilled to celebrate five years of Rock ‘n' Roll Raleigh in 2018," said Alex Bennett, Vice President of Events of the Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon Series. "The excitement and energy in the running community continues to shift to shorter distances and that's where we will focus our energy. We believe our decision to elevate the half-marathon as our main event is a positive one and will provide a better experience for both participants and the community, while bringing runners from around the world to visit Raleigh."

The 5th annual Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon Series event returns to Raleigh the weekend of April 7 - 8, 2018. Special presale pricing for the half-marathon and 5K will be available for the first 1,000 runners. Half-marathon registrations will be available for $50 and 5k registrations for $30 at RunRocknRoll.com.

"Our partners at Rock ‘n' Roll feel that it's in the best interest of Rock ‘n' Rock Raleigh to focus on the half-marathon exclusively and to enhance race weekend in this market by putting more resources into the programming and entertainment aspects of event," Scott Dupree, Executive Director of the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance (GRSA). "Rock ‘n' Roll has a proven track record of doing this successfully in cities like Philadelphia, San Francisco, Denver, Virginia Beach and others. Our local host partners (the GRSA and the City) agree with this strategy and we are excited to see how this new direction unfolds here in Raleigh."

Rock ‘n' Roll Raleigh is the most convenient destination event of the Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon Series, with the Health & Fitness Expo, start line and finish line concert all taking place just steps away from downtown hotels. From the moment they pick up their race number participants are greeted by the sounds of live entertainment, along with spectators and cheerleading teams lining the route to motivate them to the finish line. Upon finishing, runners are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the post race Toyota Rock ‘n' Roll Concert Series at Red Hat Amphitheater.

Event weekend will once again feature two days of running with the Rock ‘n' Roll 5K presented by Brooks on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. Participants can take the "Remix Challenge" by running both Saturday and Sunday and will earn the special Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race's finisher medals.

Race weekend kicks off with a Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, April 6 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 7 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center.
