National Training Complex included in “Great Parks” calendar, Pan Am Qualifying Team member Mike Trout on cover of current issue

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 7, 2010

DURHAM, N.C. – The USA Baseball National Training Complex has been selected as one of 13 baseball venues for the 2011 Baseball America Great Parks calendar. The calendar annually showcases some of the top baseball facilities in the country.

The three-year-old National Training Complex is located in Cary, N.C., seats 1,754 and has hosted the bronze medal-winning 2008 U.S. Olympic Baseball Team, the 2008 University of North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team, the gold medalist 2009 USA Baseball World Cup Team, and players such as Stephen Strasburg, Trevor Cahill, Pedro Alvarez and Bryce Harper.

“We are truly honored by our selection to the Great Parks calendar,” said Paul Seiler, USA Baseball Executive Director/CEO. “We are very proud of the National Training Complex, and we’re excited to be recognized among the top ballparks in the country.”

The 2011 Great Parks calendar can be purchased for $14.95 at www.BaseballAmerica.com. The first calendar was first released in 1984. “Baseball America is excited to include the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., for our 2011 Great Parks calendar,” said Baseball America President/Publisher Lee Folger. “We feature 13 memorable venues every year, and we visit numerous ballparks across the country and examine a large number of ballpark photos in producing the calendar. The USA Baseball National Training Complex image for the month of February 2011 shows why a trip to the complex is a special experience for fans as well as for USA Baseball program participants.”

”The National Training Complex has been a jewel of our community and has brought us such pride since its opening in 2007, said Tori Collins, Assistant Director of Sports Marketing for the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It’s wonderful to see it recognized by Baseball America as one of the top ballparks in the country,”

In addition to its Great Parks inclusion, USA Baseball is also featured on the cover of the current Dec. 13 issue of Baseball America. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim prospect Mike Trout is shown during his time with the 2010 USA Baseball Pan American Qualifying Team last September. The photo was taken during an exhibition game against Canada at the National Training Complex. The issue highlights the top 10 prospects for each team in the American League West, and Trout is recognized as the No. 1 prospect for the Angels.
