It’s almost time to have some Halloween fun and enjoy some spooky and haunted events in Greater Raleigh.  Whether you’re a family with young children or an adult looking to scare yourself silly, there are plenty of Halloween happenings to make your October spooktastic.

If you’re all about hunting ghosts, then head to the Raleigh City Museum’s Ghosts of Fayetteville Street promenade performance.  Actors from Burning Coal Theatre Company will make some of the most haunting and hysterical citizens of Raleigh’s past come to life as its history is told in a Halloween-themed script.  You can also get your haunted fix by participating in a Haunted Mordecai Trolley Tour, Lantern Tour or Free Festival.

People of all ages can enjoy New Hope Valley Railway’s Halloween Express Trains, where the woods of Wake and Chatham counties get spooky and fun!  If you’d like to be more active in your quest for family-friendly spookiness, then hike along the city of Raleigh’s annual Halloween trail, where you’ll encounter costumed characters performing family-friendly, nature-based skits.  At the end of the hike, you can huddle around a campfire for more fun with your family and friends.

The 2010 Reel-ly Scary Cary movie series will play a wide range of scary movies that are G-rated, R-rated and everything in between.  Just choose from Poltergeist, Zombieland, Monsters, Inc., The Birds and Bram Stoker’s Dracula to see what night you should head out to the Koka Booth Amphitheatre.

Cary is also hosting an activities-packed Tricks & Treats Halloween Bash for adults and teens and a Safe-N-Sane Halloween Celebration for children ages 15 and under.  Of course, we can’t forget about the eerie haunted corn maze at Green Acres in Cary.  With all of these great events to choose from, you’ll find you can get both your trick and your treat this Halloween.
