The holidays are just around the corner, and along with them come the many holiday-inspired events in Greater Raleigh.  The best way to get into the holiday spirit is to surround yourself with fun, family friendly events that will have you wishing this season lasted all year long.

The Lake Myra Christmas Light Show is the self-proclaimed most spectacular Christmas light show in North Carolina, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find many who don’t agree.  This dazzling light show is a magical journey with nearly a quarter of a million lights dynamically synchronized and dancing to Christmas music.  Every display is completely handcrafted, with thousands of hours of physical labor and hundreds of hours of computer programming to create this amazing symphony of lights.  This free show is a truly great way to get you and yours into the holiday spirit.

Few sweet treats scream holiday cheer more than gingerbread houses.  The Raleigh Gingerbread House Competition is a great way to celebrate the season by either entering your own gingerbread house or strolling through the festive competition displays.  With $1,000 in prize money available, the competitive spirit will probably be just as high as the holiday spirit.

Starting the day after Thanksgiving, Green Acres farm in Cary will be offering weekend hayrides while you shop for the perfect Christmas tree.  You’ll find beautiful Fraser fir and white pine trees, Fraser fir wreaths, white pine garland, and so much more as you ride through the farm.  This year, Green Acres is dividing 10% of all proceeds between two charity organizations.  What better way to spread some holiday cheer than through charitable contribution and some holiday decoration.
