Currently in the final stages of its expansion, the North Carolina Museum of Art will be back and better than ever on Saturday and Sunday, April 24-25. The new single-story structure was created primarily to hold more selections from the museum’s 5,000-piece permanent collection and will be surrounded by beautiful sculpture gardens and relaxing pools.
If you’ve visited the art museum before, you can look forward to more than 100 new works of art that have been added to the collection since the start of the expansion. These pieces include more than 30 sculptures by Auguste Rodin (don’t miss “The Thinker”) and work from highly acclaimed artists such as David Park, Ursula von Rydingsvard, El Anatsui and Jackie Ferrara.
On Saturday, April 17, the museum will host a black tie gala in celebration of the new building. At this elegant event, guests will be allowed to roam through the new museum while enjoying fine cuisine and entertainment. You can RSVP online. On Friday, April 23, a Preview Day will allow guests to witness the ribbon cutting and explore before the actual grand opening. Tickets will be available online starting March 15.
With beautiful art and a complete makeover, the North Carolina Museum of Art should be on the top of your list of places to visit in the area. Whether you attend the Gala or ribbon cutting or visit after the grand opening, prepare to be marveled.
