Raleigh is always undergoing renovations and adding facilities to make the City of Oaks even more inviting for visitors and residents alike.  In the past few years, Raleigh has added the downtown Raleigh Amphitheater, the new building at the North Carolina Museum of Art and Terminal 2 at RDU International Airport.  Now, it’s time for the grand opening of the new Contemporary Art Museum, bringing even more art and culture to this vibrant city.

On April 30, 2011, the Contemporary Art Museum will open to the public in its newly renovated downtown Raleigh warehouse that will include three galleries and dedicated educational spaces.  The new space will host changing exhibitions and expand existing adult and youth art and design programming. The Contemporary Art Museum will be the first of its kind in North Carolina.

The inaugural exhibition program will commence with artists Dan Steinhilber (Washington, D.C.) in the main gallery and Naoko Ito (New York, N.Y.), the first in the museum’s Emerging Artists Series, in the Independent Weekly Gallery. The grand opening celebration will be held April 29th, with an after party at Kings, for all who want to get the first viewing of this wonderful new museum. Information on tickets to this event will be posted here as they become available.
