While Halloween takes place on just one day a year, the whole month of October is packed full of eerie, haunted, spooktastic fun. For those of you who enjoy a little scare, this is your season.

Vampires are classic haunts of the season, especially the most notorious of them all, Dracula. This October 13th – 30th, Dracula: The Masque of Red Death will be performed at the Fletcher Opera Theater in downtown Raleigh. This double-feature of the Prince of Darkness and the Master of Horror is returning for it’s second year, and has already proved to be absolutely fantastic, spookiness and all.

There’s nothing eerier than a good ghost story, and when you go on the Raleigh Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour you’ll definitely hear a tale or two. This 1.5-mile walking tour is friendly for everyone ages eight and up. As you visit four different ghost and paranormal sites, you’ll hear local ghost stories, folklore and history. Also try out the adult version during the Raleigh Pub Crawl and Haunted Adventure Tour.

A few days before Halloween, Fuquay-Varina will be hosting a downtown Trick-or-Treat celebration for the kids. The event lasts from 2 to 5 p.m., during which downtown retailers will have plenty of candy on hand for a safe and fun experience.
