Knightdale Visitor Information

In the late 1800's, Henry Haywood Knight donated large portions of land for the railroad to establish a route through the township that was to become Knightdale. Although Knight did not live to see it, his donations did bring the railroad in 1904. The railroad brought prosperity to the town by providing a means of commerce for farmers and merchants. The residence of the station master still stands along Railroad Street's tracks.

• Is home to the Knightdale Environmental Park! Looking for a place to power walk, have a leisurely stroll, picnic, relax, enjoy, and be close to nature? Look no further than right here in Knightdale! Check out the new Knightdale Environmental Park, located behind Knightdale Town Hall and East Regional Library, Steeple Square Court, Knightdale. The park offers a half-mile walking trail, picnic shelters, four environmental sculptures and two observation overlooks on the pond. The park can be accessed by parking in the side lot of Town Hall or by parking in the rear of the East Regional Library parking lot. The park was recently certified as a Backyard Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. The certification shows that the site offers wildlife food, water, shelter, and a place to raise their young. It is a beautiful and wonderful place to spend some time!
