The Dead Sea Scrolls

The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences presents the blockbuster exhibition Dead Sea Scrolls
June 28 - December 28, 2008

This unique and once in a lifetime exhibition
is something not to be missed!

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences’ exhibition "The Dead Sea Scrolls" is one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of its kind ever assembled.

The most dramatic component of the Dead Sea Scrolls is the presentation of authentic scrolls in The Gallery of Scrolls. Each of the 12 distinct Scrolls (6 each 3-month period) is paired with its translation along with a brief explanation of the context of the Scroll.

The Scrolls presented are biblical, apocryphal and sectarian. They were specifically selected and conserved for the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences exhibition, including four of which have never been publicly viewed anywhere in the world. Biblical Scrolls that are included are from the books of Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy and Isaiah. Other scrolls include The Community Rule and the Damascus Document.

The Dead Sea Scrolls—objects of great mystery, intrigue and significance—are widely acknowledged to be among the greatest archaeological treasures ever discovered. The scrolls link us to the ancient Middle East and to the formative years of Rabbinic Judaism and Christianity.
