Leading the Way
Congratulations to Bureau President Denny Edwards, who has been chosen as President-Elect for the Destination Marketing Association of North Carolina. Denny has also been appointed to the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board of Directors. Loren Gold, executive vice president, has been named co-chair of the Sales and Marketing Committee of Destination Marketing Association International, and National Sales Manager Loretta Yingling, CMP, has been appointed to the Meeting Professionals International-Carolinas Chapter Board of Directors. Congratulations, Denny, Loren and Loretta… your leadership qualities are admired throughout the hospitality community!
Raleigh Rocked It
Bureau staff members would like to thank Wake County hospitality partners for making the 76th Annual Omega Psi Phi International Grand Conclave a huge success! The Raleigh area rolled out the “purple” carpet for more than 15,000 Omega brothers, their families and friends over the course of 10 days, and early estimates show the conclave had an economic impact of $7 million. Without the support of our hotels, restaurants, attractions, transportation companies and the Raleigh Convention Center, we wouldn’t have been able to give them such an incredible and positive experience. We have proven that groups of this size can easily be handled here, and we look forward to welcoming more of them in the future. Again, thank you to everyone involved… Raleigh rocked it!

VIC Update
The visitor services staff at Greater Raleigh CVB is hard at work preparing to move into a new location at 500 Fayetteville St. The new Greater Raleigh Visitor Information Center (VIC) will be in the connector space between the Raleigh Marriott City Center and the Raleigh Convention Center, just off the main entrance of the Marriott. The new VIC will be strategically located to maximize opportunities with groups coming into the Raleigh Convention Center while also being easily accessible to those attending events at the City Plaza, events at the new Raleigh Amphitheater or visiting any of the major attractions in downtown Raleigh. The VIC soft opens August 16.
