Why the Rainbow Acorn?

Not long ago, a group of 12 local, GLBT opinion-leaders came together with a single aim in mind—developing this GLBT Travel site for Greater Raleigh. When thinking of a symbol for our area’s GLBT-welcoming nature, our thoughts naturally turned to the acorn—an historic symbol for Raleigh, the City of Oaks. After all, a giant acorn looms over our Moore Square park, and we drop an acorn—instead of an apple—every New Year’s Eve. Why not take the symbol one step further by adding gay pride colors? You may not be able to see “the oak inside the acorn,” but we know you’ll discover GLBT pride in Greater Raleigh.
