America’s Wars: Individual Experience and Collective Memory

September 01 – November 30, 2017 (Recurring daily)

How do soldiers remember war? How are these memories communicated to others? America's Wars looks at how we view war through veterans’ personal artifacts and mementos, interviews with local Raleigh veterans, and popular culture such as videos, music and games. Focusing on the Vietnam War and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the exhibit explores the dynamic between local veterans’ personal experiences and the collective memory of the community to discover how Americans understand war. The exhibit will be open from September through November. Admission to the City of Raleigh Museum is free!
