Day of the Dead 5K

October 28, 2017

Once again, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance has partnered with the wonderful folks at the Brentwood Boy & Girls Club who continue to do an incredible job of providing after school activities for the Latin American community. This year's goal is to sponsor 100 kids to run the race through the "Sponsor a little runner" program where $25 dollars can contribute to pay a member's entry fee. During the last four years the event has had over 3,200 runners and have been able to contribute over $73K to the Boys & Girls Club. This year the race will start at 10am, and as usual the race course goes through Oakwood cementery and loops back to Wilmington St. There will be two altars, one at Oakwood cemetery and one on Wilmington Street, where people will be able to do offerings of flowers and written messages in memory of their loved ones. There will be an art corner for the kids sponsored by Artspace, face painting by Paint Savvy, prizes for top runners and best costumes, the famous dance-off costume contest and Tercer Divisa will be playing life and DJing the event.
