Explore Dorothea Dix Park: Skywatching

October 28, 2017

Join staff and volunteers from the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society (CHAOS) and Raleigh Astronomy Club (RAC) for a free skywatching program at Dorothea Dix Park! Telescopes will be set up to view stars and the moon. Look up at the night sky as educators guide you through fun observations of stars, planets, moons, nebulae and other celestial objects. Lumpy's Ice Cream will be on site at the park in case you want a sweet treat! This is an informal session, so you can arrive and leave any time during the two hours of the program. However, if you plan to attend, please register so that you can receive any additional information you may need as the date gets closer. All ages are welcome. Very young children may not get much out of looking through a telescope, but those elementary-school-aged and older may especially enjoy the experience. It is recommended that parents look through the telescope first—then you’ll be better able to help your child look.
