Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde

October 19 – 30, 2016 (Every Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

Written by Moisés Kaufman, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde tells the story of how Wilde sued the Marquess of Queensberry—father of his young lover—for criminal libel when he left a card bearing “posing sodomite” at his club. Evidence gathered compelled the Crown to prosecute Wilde for “gross indecency with male persons.” Characters from Queen Victoria to London’s rent boys to a present-day academic are assembled to explore how history is made and how it can be so timely revisited in the theatre.
