Historic Trades: The Candy Maker

October 21, 2017

Did you know that candy was originally a form of medicine either used to calm the digestive system or cool a sore throat? Due to the high cost of sugar and the specialized knowledge needed to make candy, it did not become widely available in the United States until the early 1800s. Join Historic Yates Mill to learn about the trade of candy making, taste some penny candy and take a trip around the globe to explore the world’s favorite sugary treats. The event is for all ages; registration not required.
