October 1, 2017

John Ward has been using the private collections at the Olivia Raney Local History Library to study Wake County history through the eyes of former Wake County Historical Society members Beth Crabtree and Elizabeth Norris. He says their research is absolutely fascinating and plans to share insights gleaned from the ladies’ papers. John A. Ward of Raleigh is a former English teacher and librarian in the Wake County Public Schools. He currently serves as historian for Christ Church, docent at the N.C. Capitol and genealogist and historic researcher. Much of his research centers on Raleigh and Chowan in addition to Hertford and Gates Counties.
