The Got to Be NC Competition Dining Series, a single-elimination tournament highlighting the best of the state’s food, agriculture and culinary talent, is heating up the competition for its annual Battle of Champions series. One chef team will be named the 2016 statewide champion. Tickets for community members to attend the dinner battles and get in on the action go on sale Monday, Oct. 3 at 7pm sharp – and are guaranteed to sell out quickly. For each dinner event, two teams of some of the best chef talent in North Carolina will battle it out for the coveted championship title in a blind full-service six-course meal. Alongside culinary and guest judges, diners rate each dish using an interactive app, ultimately determining who moves on to the next round and who goes home. This year, the Got to Be NC Competition Dining Series switched formats to allow All-Star Dream Teams. The change allows chefs from different restaurants to partner together to create a three-person team, upping the potential caliber of talent and creating a more fun and competitive atmosphere for all. The Battle of Champions will include five live dinner events Nov. 11, 12, 13, 18 and 20 at NC State’s Dorothy & Ray Park Alumni Center. Winning chef teams from Durham, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte and Wilmington will face off head-to-head, with the final battle naming the statewide champion. Tickets to attend the first four dinner battles are $119 each, and tickets for the grand finale dinner battle are $139 each.
