Featuring pianist Janusz Olejniczak and ?violinist Paulina Sokolowska, the Paderewski Piano Festival honors Ignacy Jan Paderewski, the celebrated Polish pianist, composer, and political figure who performed in Raleigh and Durham several times between the two world wars. Saturday's concert features pianist Kate Liu. Last year, at age 23, Liu won the Bronze Medal at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland. She also received the Polish Radio Award for Best Performance of a Mazurka. Janusz Olejniczak, a renowned interpreter of Chopin, performs on Sunday. Honored by the Polish government, Olejniczak has performed and taught throughout the world. He has made over 40 recordings and appears on the soundtrack of The Pianist. He is joined by violinist Paulina Sokolowska for part of his program.
