Robert Box was born in New York City in 1951 and attended the School of Visual Arts. He worked as an abstract colorist for many years, with varying levels of success. On his 50th birthday a friend gave him an Edward Hopper coffee table book, which, without realizing it at the time, engendered his turn to realism. He is currently working in a Pop Realist style, with simple depictions of everyday objects done in various size and color. He has shown in many galleries in New York and Connecticut and the Brooklyn Museum in their Brooklyn Bridge Show. He lives and works at his studio in Park Slope Brooklyn.
