Mordecai Historic Park

The Mordecai House was once the seat of one of the largest plantations in central N.C. Over two hundred African Americans slaves lived and labored on the property in the decades between the American Revolution and the Civil War. The historic house and surrounding landscape, now preserved as a City of Raleigh park, help illuminate the stories of their lives. Take a guided tour to learn more. Admission for park tours: $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, $3 for youth (7-17), free for children (six and under). Hours: Tues.-Sat., 10am-4pm; Sun., 1-4pm; one-hour tours begin every hour, with last tour at 3pm; call or visit website to confirm.

  • Description: Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Mordecai's St. Mark's Chapel provides a warm, intimate setting for any small wedding or gathering. The Mordecai Historic Park Grounds and East Lawn make a unique and memorable backdrop for your special day. Tents, dancing, amplified music, and alcohol are allowed on the grounds. The Mordecai Visitors Center Classroom and Gallery are available for engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, company events and more. Please direct all rental inquires to 919.996.4363.
