Prince Hall Historic District

  • Stronachs Aly. and portions of nearby blocks
    Raleigh, NC 27601

Raleigh's first African-American and mixed-use district consists of approximately four blocks that developed circa the Civil War through the early 20th century as a residential neighborhood and place of African-American culture. Since Reconstruction, African Americans have lived, worked, socialized and worshiped in the district, which is only a few blocks south of Raleigh's historic Black Main Street. It is still home to the Rogers-Bagley-Daniels-Pegues House, Prince Hall Masonic Temple Building and Tupper Memorial Baptist Church.
