Step Into the Garden I+ (Full day tour)

  • 8726 Cypress Club Dr.
    Raleigh, NC 27615

Welcoming spring with a tour of the J.C. Raulston Arboretum is a delightful introduction to one of the capital city's crown jewels, North Carolina State University. From its website one learns: “The J.C. Raulston Arboretum is a nationally acclaimed garden with one of the largest and most diverse collections of landscape plants adapted for landscape use in the Southeast. Plants especially adapted to Piedmont N.C. conditions are collected and evaluated in an effort to find superior plants for use in southern landscapes. The mission of the J.C. Raulston Arboretum is to introduce, display and promote plants that diversify the American landscape, thereby benefiting our communities economically, environmentally and aesthetically, as well as provide educational experiences to the general public, students of all ages and the green industry.”

Step Into the Garden I+ will explore these beautiful 10.5 contiguous acres that are a living laboratory for students and faculty in the Department of Horticultural Science. Following a tour of the Arboretum, guests will re-board the bus to travel to the North Carolina Museum of Art*. The North Carolina Museum of Art was the first major museum collection in the United States formed by state legislation and funding when it opened in 1956. Upon arrival we’ll have lunch at Iris, “a sophisticated full-service restaurant featuring contemporary American cuisine with regional and international flavors in a distinctly modern setting.” Following lunch, guests have the option to join a docent-led tour or are free to explore the museum, with its permanent collection and special exhibits, as well as its 164-acre Museum Park, the largest museum art park in the country.

The tour lasts 6.5 hours, from 9am-3:30pm. Tours must be booked at least 30 days in advance. Minimum 10 people per group. For questions or to book experience, please contact visit NC concierge at 919.302.0574.

*The North Carolina Museum of Art is closed on Mon.
