The nationally accredited Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department provides a variety of enjoyable and cost-effective recreation, sports, environmental, historical and cultural arts programs and services to the community. Designated as a FIT Community in 2007, Cary has 28 parks and natural areas, a greenway and trails system of more than 70 miles, four sports and entertainment venues and nine facilities with staff to assist you. In 2008, Cary also was named one of six inaugural members in the “NCAA Championship City” program; the town hosts NCAA Division I, II and III men's and/or women's championships each year.
