GRCVB Names New 2007-08 Board Officers;
Ed Book Tapped as Chairman

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau's Board of Directors announces a new slate of officers for 2007-2008.
Ed Book is the new board chairman. He is area general manager of the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley hotel. David Strong is the new vice chairman, Bob Schofield remains treasurer, Dale Whitworth is secretary and Russ Smith also serves on the executive committee as immediate past chairman.
Strong is President of Rex Healthcare, Schofield serves as managing director of The Umstead Hotel and Spa, Whitworth is vice president and controller for Golden Corral Corporation and Smith is general manager of the Embassy Suites Raleigh-Durham Airport hotel.
The Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, as the official destination marketing organization of Raleigh and Wake County, accelerates sustainable economic growth and development by increasing visitor and convention business. Through its website, VisitRaleigh.com and other tools, the GRCVB assists local visitors in a variety of ways. Of note, visitors spent more than $1.3 billion in Wake County last year that generated more than $366 total savings per local household in state and local taxes.
