RALEIGH, N.C. (January 15, 2008) - The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) will recognize The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau with a Silver Award for web marketing excellence for its winning entry in the annual Adrian Awards Competition.
The award-winning entry, French Getaway Experiences, was created in conjunction with the North Carolina Museum of Art's blockbuster exhibition, Monet in Normandy. The dedicated website, www.VisitRaleigh.com/Monet, encouraged Greater Raleigh's visitors and residents to "taste" the culture that inspired Monet with special dinners, wine tastings, cooking and wine pairing classes, shopping and special hotel offers throughout Wake County.
"Monet in Normandy was a groundbreaking exhibition that pumped more than $24 million into Wake County's economy. The four-month exhibition welcomed more than 214,000 attendees from all 50 states, including all 100 North Carolina counties, plus Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Serbia and Malaysia," said Denny Edwards, President and CEO of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The French Getaway Experience helped to give visitors a well-rounded experience above and beyond just viewing these masterpieces at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Out restaurant and retail partners showed incredible support by creating unique offers showcasing not only the French lifestyle; but how the French culture influences our community."
