Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau Gets Final Approval to Open Visitor Information Center

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) has announced that they received final approval to open a Visitor Information Center in downtown Raleigh. Denny Edwards, president and chief executive officer of the GRCVB, said he hopes to have the facility ready for the public by March when the NCAA Tournament comes to the RCB Center.

"We are so excited to finally have a wonderful resource downtown to help visitors and residents alike explore everything there is to do in the Greater Raleigh area," Edwards said. "This was a team effort, and we are particularly grateful to the Raleigh City Museum for donating the space, and to the City of Raleigh and Wake County for recognizing the dire need to make this happen."

With over 11 million visitors coming to Raleigh annually, and with the anticipated opening of the Raleigh Convention Center, GRCVB stepped up its efforts earlier this year to push for the center. The Raleigh City Museum graciously agreed to donate the space for the Center, while the GRCVB will staff and supply the materials necessary to operate the center.

Development has exploded throughout the county, particularly with a revitalization of real estate, entertainment and restaurants in downtown Raleigh.
