Travel by Bus or Train

The Raleigh area is accessible by Amtrak train and Greyhound bus service.

Within the area, the CAT (Capital Area Transit) bus system and CAT Connectors provide riders with an extensive network of routes, while the Raleigh Trolley serves the downtown area from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and provides rides for monthly historic tours on Saturday.

The Triangle area of Greater Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Cary is served by the Triangle Transit Authority bus service.

Train routes stopping in Raleigh include the Carolinian, which travels from Charlotte to New York; the Piedmont, which travels from Raleigh to Charlotte; and the Silver Star, which travels from New York to Florida.
