Big Ed's City Market Restaurant (2.9 MB)
Located in downtown Raleigh's historic City Market district, Big Ed's offers traditional down-home Southern cooking, such as made-from-scratch biscuits and red-eye gravy and grits.
Booth Amphitheatre (1.2 MB)
Located in the Town of Cary, the amphitheatre is an outdoor performing arts facility hosting local and national recording artists, festival and events. Recently named "best small entertainment venue".
Carolina Hurricanes (3.5 MB)
The region's first major league franchise and owner of North Carolina's first major pro title, the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes are 2006 Stanley Cup Champions, headquartered in Raleigh and play at the RBC Center, which opened in 1999.
Carolina Rail Hawks (2.0 MB)
The United Soccer League's newest expansion team, the Carolina RailHawks played its first season in 2007, with home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

Carolina Mudcats (1.8 MB)
The AA Carolina Mudcats, part of the Florida Marlins farm system, call Zebulon's Five County Stadium home, playing more than 70 home games a season.

City Market, with its cobblestone streets and tile-roofed buildings, is a focal point of Raleigh's downtown revitalization. This 1911 Spanish-style market is now the location of numerous specialty shops, an antique mall, several restaurants and pubs, and a comedy club.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Gardens (1.4 MB)
A variety of trees, shrubs and flowering plants encircle a life-sized, bronze statue of the slain national civil rights leader. Surrounding the statue is the King Memorial Wall, which includes almost 2,500 brick inscribed with the names of state and national supporters of the facility.

This Victorian-style mansion and its spectacular public gardens have been home to N.C. governors since 1891. Public home and garden tours are available
N.C. Museum of Art (1.4 MB)
The North Carolina Museum of Art features a selection of works spanning 5,000 years, from ancient Egypt to the present. The museum's paintings include internationally recognized Renaissance, Baroque, British 18th-century and American 19th-century pieces.
N.C. Museum of History (2.5 MB)
The seven-story complex for the N.C. Museum of History opened in April 1994 and features more than 350,000 artifacts, photographs, videos and hands-on activities.
N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences (1.0 MB)
The new N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences is the largest of its kind in the Southeast and features four floors of hands-on exhibits, dioramas of the state's natural habitats and the Acrocanthosaurus, also known as the "Terror of the South."
Pullen Park (2.9 MB)
Pullen Park, a scenic and charming oasis situated in downtown Raleigh, features a 1911 Dentzel carousel as well as train rides, pedal boats, kiddie boat rides and picnic facilities. It is adjacent to the state-of-the-art Pullen Aquatic Center.

The RBC Center is home to the NHL Carolina Hurricanes and the N.C. State University men's basketball team. In addition, it hosts concerts, convocations and other special events throughout the year.

N.C. Capitol (1.5 MB)
North Carolina's Capitol is at the center of a six-acre park that also offers statues, park benches and shaded walkways. Completed in 1840, it originally housed the governor's office, cabinet offices, legislative chambers and the state library.
N.C. State Fair (3.7 MB)
Approximately 700,000 people attend the State Fair each year, making it the largest annual event in North Carolina. The 10-day fair features livestock, agricultural, arts and cultural exhibitions, an amusement midway and nightly nationally-acclaimed musical performances. Held each year during mid-October.
NC State University Belltower (0.6 MB)
Monument to N.C. State Alumni killed in World War 1.  The 115-foot monument, called "a legend in stone" contains 1,400 tons of stone set on a 700-ton concrete base, and exceeded $150,000 in cost.

WakeMed Soccer Park (1.6 MB)
WakeMed Soccer Park is the nation's premier soccer venue of its size. The 150-acre park, which opened in spring 2002 and is located in Cary, N.C., consists of a 7,000-seat stadium and six additional soccer fields.

Considered one of the best and most modern markets in the U.S., visitors enjoy 75 acres of indoor and outdoor specialty shops; restaurants; garden center; fruits, vegetables and gift products from across the state.
