New Taxi Regulations
The
Bureau in conjunction with the Raleigh Police Department has successfully
lobbied Raleigh City Council to change and add language to the current
Taxi License Requirements/Regulations. The revisions are designed to
improve customer service and set appearance standards, as well as promote
driver and customer safety. The ordinance revisions also mandate background
checks on owners and operators prior to a permit being issued. Stiff
penalties are in place for drivers who do not adhere to these new regulations.

Green Build
Committed
to helping customers “green” their meetings, the Raleigh Convention
Center exceeded its own goals, attaining the Silver Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification. While the award puts
the RCC alongside six other U.S. centers that have achieved a degree
of LEED certification*, the region’s overall sustainability profile
makes it a one-of-a-kind destination. The LEED effort included promoting
an energy-efficient design, recycling building materials, and designating
the building as being cigarette smoke-free. For the full news release,
