Holly Springs
Holly Springs began as a crossroads near springs of fresh water at a spot where holly trees were numerous. Travelers stopped by the springs to quench their thirst. Now the town is home to one of the area’s most successful microbreweries, Carolina Brewing Company (tours on Saturdays) and a championship golf course that occupies more acreage than the entire downtown area. The Holly Springs Cultural Center hosts events year-round, including concerts and films.
Where it is: Located approximately 30 minutes southwest of downtown Raleigh.
