Wendell

A visit to Wendell is not complete without a visit to Kannon’s Clothing, where locals and Capital City residents have shopped for more than 90 years, or to the Mortex Factory Outlet, which sells locally-printed T-shirts and clothing featuring your favorite destinations and college teams. Zepp’s Country Music sells guitars, banjos and other instruments to music maniacs locally and across the globe and hosts local “pickers” who play live music on Thursday evenings. Children and adults alike will love a visit to Todd’s Train Depot with its model train museum and store.

The downtown district has received recognition on the National Register of Historic Places, as have homes along the town’s main corridor, Wendell Boulevard.

Wendell highlights its charm with a fall Harvest Festival, held the first weekend in October every year, as well as displays its harvest with a Farmers Market open every Saturday morning from May to October. The local historical society hosts an annual Christmas Candlelight Tour of homes featuring many of the town’s historic residences and a family Independence Day celebration featuring a non-motorized parade of bicycles, pets and parade participants all decked out in their red, white and blue finest.
