The North Carolina Symphony is a full-time, professional orchestra with 65 members based in Raleigh. Led by Music Director Grant Llewellyn, the Symphony performs approximately 185 concerts a year, frequented by international guests. The N.C. Symphony is a leader in music education and performs more than 60 music education concerts annually for North Carolina school children.
Enjoy a mid-day performance, especially designed with the kids in mind during your It’s Hip to Be Cool Weekend. The N.C. Symphony, known for music education, presents a three-concert series designed for children (ages 4 to 12) on Saturdays, 11 am–Noon. These hour-long concerts hold young people’s attention with great music, lots of surprises and pre-concert activities in the lobby of the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts at 10:15 am.
