From March 19th - 22nd, almost 250 players will compete at the 14th annual Butterfly Cary Cup for over $21,500 in total cash and prizes. The long standing giant round robin tournament has become a favorite for players from across the US and the world, with the main event selling out weeks before the entry deadline. This year's tournament will feature competitors from 38 states and 7 countries, including 30 players over a USATT rating of 2400. In addition to the main giant round robin event, hardbat, sandpaper and doubles events will also be contested at this weekend's competition.
After 13 years at the Bond Park Community Center (which also hosted the 2012 US and North American Olympic Trials), the tournament will now relocate to the new Triangle Table Tennis Center in Morrisville, North Carolina. The new venue features a single space for all tournament competitors with exceptional Olympic level lighting, Gerflor red flooring, and new HVAC heating/cooling systems to allow for supreme conditions for high level table tennis competition. In addition, players will be able to enjoy free wifi, gym equipment and full shower facilities. Tournament director Mike Babuin cannot wait to welcome the participants of the 2015 Butterfly Cary Cup to the new and improved tournament venue.

Competition kicks off on Thursday, March 19th with the Open Doubles event at 6:00 p.m. EST, and continues on Friday with the Hardbat, Open, Advanced, Intermediate and Under-1500 round robin competitions. On Saturday, the main Giant Round Robin begins at 9:00 a.m. with preliminary placement matches followed by divisional play for the remainder of the day. Sunday will feature the finals of the Giant Round Robin with single elimination playoffs for the top 16 players in each division. The Sandpaper competition will also take place on Sunday. With a record breaking number of elite players entered into this year's event, the Division "A" final single elimination rounds will feature some of the highest level table tennis in available in the U.S.
