Between March 19^th and September 4^th, the North Carolina Museum of Art will be home to a fascinating exhibit that highlights the work of 31 contemporary African-American artists, 30 Americans. 

Seventy works of art were organized by and drawn from the Rubell Family Collection, and the collection consists of paintings, drawings, photographs, videos, sculptures and mixed-media installations.  You’ll see how established and emerging African-American artists alike explore issues of race, gender, identity, history and popular culture through their works of art.

Artists featured include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robert Colescott, David Hammons, Barkley Hendricks and Kerry James Marshall.  Tickets to see the exhibition, presented in the museum’s Meymandi Exhibition Gallery, are $10 for adults.  This is a truly wonderful opportunity to see contemporary art from an internationally renowned collection.
