February is Black History month, and Greater Raleigh is celebrating with a fantastic array of theatrical productions, museum exhibitions, musical performances and so much more.  Throughout the month, you’ll have no trouble finding an event that lets you reflect on African-American history and celebrate the multicultural advancements of our nation in your own way.

The North Carolina Museum of History will explore the lives and accomplishments of African Americans who called our great state home with two special events, the African American History Tour and Hands-On History.  Also, the museum will host a presentation of the Magic of African Rhythm by Pinecone mid-month.  More history can be found at the Raleigh City Museum, during its presentation of the 5 Faces & Places of Raleigh African American Community, and Exhausted Remedies: Joe Holt’s Story, which welcomes Joe Holt, the first African-American student to try to integrate the Wake County Public School System.

A literary delight, the North Carolina State Capitol welcomes local authors, community leaders and students to the 22nd Annual African American Read In.  While you’re in Greater Raleigh, you can enjoy an array of multicultural restaurants, services, travel resources and more.
