Make February count this year. Help the North Carolina Museum of History celebrate Black History Month by attending one of their fun and informational programs!

Come indulge yourself in rich NC history as “Hands on History” takes you on a journey through time as you learn about some of the most famous African Americans that have called the Tar Heel State their home.  “Hands on History” also provides materials for your party to make a traditional craft and even do a little rope jumping, making this perfect for the kids. Not only will they obtain vital information about NC’s own Black history but they can actually engage themselves in it and take home a little memento! This program will be held on Feb. 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Another program offered by the museum is the “African American History Tour.” Though similar to the “Hands on History” program, this one is more geared toward an adult audience as it tends to delve deeper into the African American struggle in North Carolina. Expect to learn a vast amount of history as the program covers everything from the antebellum period all the way to the Civil Rights Movement.  This program is held on the same dates from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

With so many dates to both programs, it’s hard to not go to both and really optimize your experience, so why not go with the kids to one program and then bring friends to the other? You never know what you might learn!
