50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Celebration

About

The City of Raleigh Museum is honoring 50 years of Hip Hop with a day of celebration. There will be an amazing educational lecture series in the morning; the museum has partnered with local hip-hop legends and pioneers to discuss the evolution of hip-hop music in Raleigh and NC. The symposium starts at 10am.

During the day, Fayetteville Street will be closed for a classic car show, DJ For Kids Class, Break Dancers, Graffiti Public Art, Hip Hop Karaoke (clean music of course), Hip Hop Photos on the Jumbotron, Line Dancing Class, and a red-carpet experience (from 6pm-7pm). Then it’s time to celebrate at The Hip Hop Sneaker Ball! Come out in your best hip-hop fashion and dance your night away! Legendary DJs, photo booth, VIP area, hip-hop archive display, and more!

The Museum is archiving the public's iconic hip-hop photos until May 1. The city of Raleigh Museum will collect these photos to be a permanent part of the city's history.
