About

Asheville-based roots artist Anya Hinkle returns to the Wake Forest Listening Room for an intimate evening of acoustic music deeply rooted in the sounds of Appalachia and enriched by global influences. After international tours through Japan, India, Nepal, Scandinavia, and beyond, Anya brings a dynamic blend of folk, bluegrass, and world flavors to her original compositions.

With vivid storytelling and arresting honesty, Anya's music has earned critical acclaim from outlets like No Depression, Folk Alley, and Pop Matters. Her 2021 release Eden and Her Borderlands was called “one of roots music’s gems,” and her newest album Oceania (Red Parlor Records, 2024), produced by Kevin Moloney and featuring John Doyle and Billy Cardine, continues to expand her musical landscape.

Winner of the MerleFest Chris Austin Songwriting Competition and the 2023 USA Songwriting Contest, Anya has appeared on festival stages worldwide. Join us for a powerful night of song, story, and world-class musicianship.
