We are thrilled to welcome acclaimed North Carolina singer-songwriter Laurelyn Dossett back to the Wake Forest Listening Room to open our 2026 season. Known for her poignant lyrics, rich voice, and powerful storytelling, Laurelyn’s work bridges folk tradition with timely social and environmental themes.

A celebrated songwriter and activist, Laurelyn’s music has been featured in film and television (Hell on Wheels, Ain’t In It for My Health) and recorded by artists like Levon Helm and Rhiannon Giddens. She has composed music for theater, symphony orchestras, and social justice movements across the state. Her song cycle The Gathering was commissioned by the North Carolina Symphony and remains a seasonal favorite.
