Join us for “theater on the lawn” at the Historic St. Agnes Hospital (St. Augustine’s University). We invite guests to bring beach blankets, lawn chairs, and open minds, ready to take the ‘Colored Girl’s journey' featuring modern/liturgical dance and African drumming.
Storyline: DENISE checked all the “honorable woman” boxes: educated, celibate, active in ministry. Exhausted by the dismissal of “Black girl joy,” she decides to slip into a jazz brunch and drown herself in bottomless mimosas. That is where she meets WAYNE (ADEYEMI), an easy-to-look-at, socially conscious man, who reveals that he practices Yoruba, an African indigenous religion. The ever-devout Christian Denise says they can be friends, but nothing more. Then they become more.
