About

In May, Mahler directors Rory Parnell and Shawn Brewster attended an artist residency with Raleigh artists Susan Woodson, Kathleen Rieder, Thomas Sayre, and Luke Buchanan in Marrakech, Morocco. The Moroccan American Artist Exchange Both Ways is a celebration of these two cultures and the uniting influence of art. Coordinated with renowned Moroccan artist Ghany Belmaachi and Al Maqam artist colony founder Mohamed Mourabiti, they stayed at Al Maqam and created art with Moroccan artists for nearly two weeks. Those Moroccan artists will be visiting Raleigh and creating artwork which will be on display during Raleigh's Sparkcon Festival (September 13th-16th).
