Des Bishop

Des Bishop, a native of Queens, New York, is a celebrated comedian who rose to fame in Ireland. He gained national recognition with his TV series The Des Bishop Work Experience, living on minimum wage in various jobs while blending documentary and stand-up. He followed with the acclaimed series Joy In The Hood, teaching comedy in disadvantaged Irish communities, and has performed internationally at Just For Laughs and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Bishop also lived in Beijing, became fluent in Mandarin, and created the hit show Breaking China, as well as a BBC radio documentary on Chinese stand-up comedy. His live performances have drawn large audiences at the Edinburgh Festival, Soho Theatre in London, and New York’s Barrow Street.
