To reduce the impact on Dorothea Dix Park and its neighbors we have decided to combine two upcoming events into one SUNsational celebration… Destination SunFest at Dix Park on Saturday, July 13! Please update your calendar and plan to join us on July 13 for all the fun… and sunflowers.
Destination SunFest is a celebration of Raleigh City Council adopting the Dorothea Dix Park Master Plan combined with a celebration of the sunflowers at Dix Park. A year after the City purchased the Dix campus from the State of North Carolina in 2015 for the purpose of developing a great destination park, we hosted Destination Dix to commemorate this milestone and to kick-off the park planning process. Last year the City planted 5 acres of sunflowers at Dix Park - a partnership project between Public Utilities, Office of Sustainability and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources. Now we are hosting Destination SunFest to celebrate the completion of the Master Plan and welcome the entire community to become part of this next phase of Dorothea Dix Park!
Please RSVP! Registration is not required, but it does help us to know how many guests to expect and we can contact you with important event information. This event is free to the public thanks to Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy donors.
