Join the museum as we kick off hurricane season by welcoming author and hurricane historian Jay Barnes, who will share his latest book Fifteen Hurricanes that Changed the Carolinas: Powerful Storms, Climate Change, and What We Do Next (UNC Press). There will be an opportunity to get your very own copy of the book in the museum shop and get it signed by the author following the program! 

Barnes is an author, historian, and longtime resident of the North Carolina coast. His previous books include North Carolina’s Hurricane History (fourth edition; UNC Press), Florida’s Hurricane History (second edition; UNC Press), Faces from the Flood: Hurricane Floyd Remembered, (UNC Press), and Hurricane Hazel in the Carolinas (Arcadia Publishing).
