Jeana Eve Klein: #unfriendmeifyoustillsupporthim
PNC Pop-In Artist in Residence Jeana Eve Klein’s solo exhibition, #unfriendmeifyoustillsupporthim, shares work from three current projects undertaken while in residence at Artspace. In Recent Activity, Klein is documenting her responses to other peoples’ social media activities as a form of penance for feelings of failure in the face of the current political climate. In Recent Activity: Raleigh, Klein is inviting the community to document their own responses to social media posts with cards available in the Artspace lobby to create a collective snapshot of Raleigh as filtered through the lens of social media. In I Feel So Lucky (that my most egregious experience was that time at Lutheran confirmation camp when I was 12 and the counselor slid his hand up my leg. It was basically all skin that was exposed anyway, so does that even count?), Klein is creating a pile of soft sculptures of the phrase #metoo that will be given away at the end of her exhibition to any self-identifying woman with whom the phrase resonates. The First Friday Opening Reception for this exhibit will be Aug. 3 from 6-10pm.
