Leah Cooke

Although formally trained in drawing, painting and printmaking, Leah can’t help but express herself though fabric: the textures of cloth, the patterns, the sensual nature of its movement, the weight of it and simply the touch of it, always draws her in. Fabric holds memories. Each piece of clothing carries its own history—a favorite shirt worn thin with love, a dress once donned for a special occasion, jeans that have traveled countless miles. In her hands, these remnants of everyday life are deconstructed and reconstructed, their fibers interwoven to create art that transcends its origins. The textures and patterns of these fabrics bring depth and complexity to her quilts. Medium: Quilts
