About
Singer-songwriter Max McNown has quickly become one of folk/country’s most compelling new voices. Just a year after teaching himself guitar, he broke out with “A Lot More Free,” an RIAA Gold single that hit #1 on iTunes and pushed him to the top of Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart. After releasing Wandering, Willfully Blind, and his sophomore album Night Diving, the Oregon native made his TV debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show and sold out his first headline tour in hours. He was also named a 2025 Artist to Watch by Amazon Music, Holler, and Country Now.
McNown now returns with Night Diving (The Cost of Growing Up)—a 21-song expanded edition featuring 11 new tracks. Produced by Jamie Kenney, the project deepens his earthy, folk-rooted sound while exploring themes of loss, love, addiction, and self-discovery. Highlights include the reflective title track, the romantic “Forever Ain’t Long Enough,” the breakup-themed “Same Questions,” and a new version of “Night Diving” featuring rising artist Cameron Whitcomb.
Raised in the Pacific Northwest and sharpened by busking in Southern California, McNown first gained attention posting covers online. His early releases quickly racked up tens of millions of streams, leading to a deal with Fugitive Recordings and widespread critical praise. Since then, he’s toured extensively, shared stages with major artists, performed at C2C, debuted at the Grand Ole Opry, and earned festival slots at Lollapalooza, Boston Calling, and CMA Fest.
With his heartfelt writing and warm, unvarnished vocals, McNown has built a devoted fan base that deeply connects with his emotionally honest songs. As he steps into this new chapter, he aims to create music that helps listeners feel understood, hopeful, and less alone.
