A poignant, challenging and ultimately uplifting event, the concert will feature works by one of choral music's newest leading composers, Jake Runestad, plus music by Beethoven and others. It will also feature student musicians from Panther Creek High School in Cary. Opening with Runestad's A Silence Haunts Me, a dramatic exploration of Beethoven's Heiligenstadt Testament, in which the young Beethoven expresses his despair over his impending deafness and resolve to press on in fulfillment of his artistic destiny. The music will then connect to our own present-day challenges with Please Stay, a plea for suicide prevention and awareness. The second half of the concert will feature the Panther Creek High School Chamber Choir and Concert Singers performing Runestad's beautiful and inspiring The Hope of Loving.
